Ha Na sat behind Rodrigo’s desk, her fingers caressing the warm wood with a smile playing on her lips. Silly dragon. How could he honestly believe she would ever leave Brazil without him? Rodrigo was hers and she was never letting him go.

Yes, it had taken him a while to figure it out, but she was willing to excuse him. As all dragons were quick to point out, they hadn’t seen a mage in five hundred years. The poor dragon’s mate-spotting instincts were probably stunted, or at least in hibernation mode. She’d been forced to flirt shamelessly and drop massive hints that they belonged together. If not for Thiago’s urging, she might have started to question her own instincts.

But no, Rodrigo was hers.

They were going to be bonded.

She was staying in Rio with the Valerii.

These were all facts chiseled in stone.

It was an added bonus that she was here for the sake of all the unmated dragons. These poor ice dragons had no idea what they were doing with the new generation of mages. They needed help finding mages, and when they were located, the dragons were definitely going to need help wooing them.

She would be open to discuss the change at nine-thirty in the morning. She’d then turned off her phone. Both of them would blow her phone up with calls and texts at all the ungodly hours, and she’d very much wanted to spend some uninterrupted time with her new mate.

As she’d finished a leisurely breakfast with Rodrigo, she’d turned on her phone to discover sixteen missed calls and forty-two text messages from her grandchildren and even her grandchildren’s mates. Rodrigo had bragged about receiving a few messages from King Alric. Her lovely mate had only replied to confirm everyone was well and safe.

Such a good, playful mate.

At precisely nine-thirty, the Skype app on Rodrigo’s computer lit up with an incoming call. She’d been expecting this and was prepared. They’d used Skype to frequently chat since she’d arrived in Rio, but it was usually on her phone. No, this time she wanted the joy of seeing their expressions on Rodrigo’s large computer screen.

She hesitated for a second, drawing out the moment because maybe she was a little bit of a tease and a drama queen, as her granddaughter would say.

The large screen immediately filled with two of the most important faces in her world. How her daughter had
